American Sign Language Storytime
Join us at Brower Park Library for part of BPL’s Multilingual Storytime Series. Brower Park will host an American Sign Language (ASL) Storytime. This storytime will be led by a Deaf performer and will be voice-off, meaning the presenter will be using ASL to read the story, with writing and sound projected behind her. Whether you are part of a multilingual family or an excited learner, we encourage you to come be a part of this wonderful storytime experience! For more information call 718.230.2227 or go to bklynlib.org and search “Multilingual Storytimes” in our calendar Accessibility We are a 15-minute walk off the Kingston-Throop C and Kingston 2, 3, 4, 5 stops on the subway. We are also located within a 5-minute walk of the B43, B45, and B65 buses. Our building entry and bathroom are all ADA compliant. For this workshop we will be in the community room, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting. Temperature varies. Being a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building. This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group. To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you'd like to borrow a sound filtering device. Grown-ups are asked to stay in the space to provide additional support for their child. This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.
