Creamos Porque Creemos/We Care So We Create
Círculo de música, baile e historias para niñxs y sus cuidadores, enfocado en el cuidado comunitario y la liberación colectiva. Comenzaremos con calentamiento corporal y un círculo de movimiento, transicionaremos a calentamientos vocales y conectaremos a través de canciones Latinoamericanas, y añadiremos ritmo a través instrumentos de percusión y percusión corporal. Culminaremos el taller con una improvisación comunitaria de música y baile, haciendo eco a los temas de liberación colectiva a través de la expresión creativa, el autocuidado y el cuidado comunitario. Music, dance, and story circle for kids and caregivers, focused on community care and collective liberation. We will begin with a body warm up and circle movement, transition into vocal warmups and connection through Latin American folk songs, then add rhythm using percussive instruments and body percussion. We will culminate the workshop in a music and dance community improvisation, echoing the themes of collective liberation through creative expression, self-, and community-care. Living Story Lab is a community-based performing arts and education organization dedicated to empowering people as creators of their own stories and building bridges across generations. Since 2018, we have supported young people in finding, cultivating and sharing their voices through music, movement and storytelling. Our programs are multilingual, multigenerational, interdisciplinary, and culturally-responsive. Our commitment is to strengthen the connective tissue within our communities to better support and stand with those who are most vulnerable. Alec Lichtenberg is a New York City-based embodied storyteller, educator, and youth advocate who uses dance, music and storytelling to create safer spaces for young people to connect with and create their own stories.
