MUSIC OF THE EARTH - Unearth a Story
In honor of BPL's Summer Reading theme, "What's Your Story?" and the FIFA World Cup, join Gerritsen Beach Library on an exploration of World Music, Storytelling, and Fun! In “Music of the Earth”, professional musician Darius Kaufmann will take kids on a trip to five continents, exploring Australian didjeridoos, Native American drums and flutes, Indian snake charmer, crystal singing bowls, Chinese gongs, deer-hoof rattles, Aztec wind whistles, Scottish bagpipes and a lot more! In the tradition of the ancient shamans, listeners create and share their own myths and stories inspired by the exotic and haunting sounds. Together we learn traditional Native American chants and animal sounds from South America and Australia, and we dance with the snake charmer and march to the bagpipes! The Australian didjerdoo and a giant wolf drum are brought out into the audience so listeners can feel the vibrations up close, and everyone learns to dance an Irish jig for the finale. Join us at this unique, interactive, and highly educational Summer Reading event!
